First of all, warm wishes for a happy, healthy 2013.  Here’s to some great travel adventures and stories to follow…

Santa Fe, New Mexico

Just last month, before all the hustle and bustle of the holidays, Cindy and her husband Mike spent 4 days in Santa Fe, New Mexico – and arrived just in time to experience their first snowfall!  We wanted to share a few of their vacation highlights with you, so here we go:

Cindy & Mike stayed at the Inn on the Alameda – It was perfectly located between old town and Canyon Road, and is an easy walk to both. If your arms are full of treasures or your feet are beginning to talk back, you can always make use of the Inn’s complimentary bus that runs around the tourist areas. The ‘lavish’ breakfast that the Inn refers to on their website did live up to its billing – you will find everything that you could possibly need to begin your day!  It’s a little like staying with family, really – their staff are just terrific.

Alameda

Wile there is no restaurant in the hotel the Posada around the corner has a great bar and 2 restaurants which are worth a visit. Cindy & Mike tried every restaurant that they could, and now have terrific recommendations which range from fast eateries to world-class restaurants.

Here are their top 4 Santa Fe Dining options:
Geronimo * La Boca  * Compound * Anasazi
That said, there are many small walk-in café/bistros which serve fresh meals at reasonable prices.

It is clear now that you cannot see Santa Fe in one visit, regardless of the length of stay.  The galleries are endless and for the most part, excellent. The museums are very focused which allows people to concentrate on their particular area of interest.  Shopping is enticing, to be sure – but pricy!  Save your money for one purchase that you will treasure.

Santa Fe Shopping

We highly recommend picking up a copy of Eyewitness Travel’s Top 10 Santa Fe – this is a great little guidebook, complete with maps and descriptions.  You can find this at Indigo for approximately $15.

Thanks to Cindy & Mike for sharing a few helpful Santa Fe travel tips!

Once again, best wishes for 2013.
